Biography

 

Gregory Santos is an abstract figurative artist who works predominantly in printmaking. He was born and raised on Long Island and is the second son of two art teachers. His introduction, training, and involvement in the arts began at home when he was taught to draw two-point perspective in 1st grade. He received his B.F.A. in printmaking from Syracuse University and his M.A. in studio art from New York University. He also completed the Printer Training Program at the Tamarind Institute for Lithography. He has worked professionally as a bookbinder, book conservator, letterpress printer and silkscreen printer. He has printed editions for artists including: Jill Moser, Guillermo Kuitca, Robert Kushner, Cecily Brown and Sanford Biggers. Gregory is currently the manager of the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University. His own studio practice is based in Spanish Harlem.
